It makes sense that he’s that large. The only thing we can compare him to is the likes of a futuristic spider, so evolved that he’s almost not a spider in characteristics like tarantulas. Instead of him being considered Jurassic or old in design, he’s a Post-Modern or Neo-Modern spider.
