@instituteofhumananatomy: How much protein do you actually need? There's a real number, and most people are guessing. 🔬 Here's the range. For adults who are consistently physically active, you're looking at roughly 1.2 to 2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. But where you fall inside that range depends on what you're doing. At the bottom, 0.8 grams per kilogram is the bare minimum just to cover basic physiological function. From 0.8 to 1.2 is for people who only exercise occasionally. But if you're training consistently, 1.2 is your floor, not your target. Edge toward 1.6 grams if you're doing a fair amount of distance running, or if you're lifting and want to add some muscle without chasing a bodybuilding stage. And if your goal is to truly maximize muscle growth, aim closer to 2 grams per kilogram. The takeaway? "Eat more protein" is vague. Your actual number depends on how hard, and how often, you train. After trying 1.2g, 1.6g and 2g for a year I have been eating 1.2g since I didnt notice any improvements or "extra gains" I in fact didn't loose but gained a few extra pounds of muscle in the last 4 months by eating 80g - 120g per day 🤔

Is it really the protein intake that we utilize? Meanwhile, are we storing protein somewhere inside our bodies? I do confirm that if your putting extra effort you‘d need more though.. just heads-up to reach the right conclusion.

couple things to clarify that protein is simply a collection of amino acids and these are the substrate that is absorbed into the bloodstream through digestion, these amino acids then become the building blocks for all the proteins in the body. so the important point is the amino acids that are not used are then broken down and stored as fat. no different than excess carbohydrate and excess lipids. so while you need enough of these amino acids to to meet all your metabolic needs too much follows the same path as excess sugar.
