@tiredmillennialmom: Vacationing with kids is basically packing for a small army, spending way too much money, and questioning your life choices at least twice a day. But then you get those little moments that make all the chaos worth it. Would I rather vacation without kids sometimes? Absolutely. Would I trade these memories? Never. #MomLife #MomTok #MillennialMom #VacationWithKids #FamilyVacation

It felt like a vacation for the first time when we went to an all inclusive resort 8 months ago. Babies were 1.5 and 3. The only thing I really had to worry about was sunscreen. Sure I brought toys to play on the beach and stuff, but no chores, food was a buffet or at least I didn’t have to cook or look at prices, snacks and drinks were covered. Highly recommend.

My kids are 13 and 15 and this year was the first family vacation that actually felt decently relaxing.

If you’re raising them to be competent, around 8. Otherwise never

Yeah… mine 19, 17, and 6. Its really just feeding them snacks in different area codes. Somehow they’re even hungrier and thirstier the further away they are from home.

If you go somewhere with childcare it feels like vacation. Or big family vacations where grandma can help

I had to reframe. It is not a vacation. It is a family trip. Trip means work.

Taking my 10 year old on trips stopped being a lot of work sometime between 8 and 9. I still have to check her bag but she entertaines herself for the most part and her conversations are way more grown up and insightful now. The 7 and 5 year olds still wear me out

I mean, when they were that young we made sure to go places they'd have fun so everyone was in a good mood! also we always stayed in hotels because I wasn't about to cook and clean an air b&b and give myself chores, I wanted a break too 😄 so that helped. But now we have teens and they can stay in their own hotel room while we get to stay in ours, so that's an awesome thing!!

If you can find a family with similar aged kids and travel with them, it makes a huge difference

Embrace that you have to be on🤷‍♀️Make that mean showing them fun no matter what you’re doing. They will look back they won’t be saying that it was a perfect vacation,

Same ages. In a phase where I just plan vacay around things my kids love- Disney, waterparks/great resort pools, cruise, beach, aquariums or cool things like that. All driving distance places at this time because I know my limits. We are going to plan our first trip that’s not centered around those kid friendly things soon.

Are they being parented to be adult-capable at 18? If so, should be able to vacation well by 8.

I think it’s when they hit 12 and older it will feel like a vacation. But remember kids are still needy no matter if they are teens or little kids lol 😅
