Okay so here’s my point of view on this back yard or a shop or dealer ship, timing chains the aftermarket ones do fail I don’t use them and even oem fail, u here saying about the scoring on the cylinder wall, that might not even have been there when the friend done the chains and he might have check the cylinder walls when or before doing the chains, I have seen cam phasers be bad and metal come from them and take a cam caps out. So if checked the cylinder walls before doing timing chains and done the chains oem or not and the chain fault due to be faulty or peace of metal internally after chains were done and came back to ur shop and the cylinder was scored are u going to blast that all over the place like you are now? No your not but ur doing this to back yard perosn or independent shop… anything can happen afterwards installed wrong or defective parts or internal components with debris the human eye can’t see and if you done this job the same thing coukd have happened to you

I have seen aftermarket chains break and destroy an engine. I turn down those jobs too much risk. I have a shop and others I know have shops. I refer those jobs to them.
