I agree w the better wording, I mentioned that in my video as well. This entire discourse was a tactic for TERFs to weaponize me to attack trans women .. and now it’s insane

She build her entire career off of “defeating the patriarchy” but you can’t do that while actively pitting all women against each other

I made a comment saying “i believe Palestinians have a more beautiful understanding of freedom than Americans. That’s not to say Americans don’t understand freedom or that Americans haven’t an uglier idea of freedom. What I mean is bc they have the constant battle of working towards their own freedom they have a more beautiful understanding of what freedom means. The same for trans women. They have a more beautiful understanding of womanhood bc it’s a constant daily battle. That’s my opinion” girl I got dragged left and right and center. I was called racist and misogynistic. Everyone has evidently made all comparison illegal and only bean soup is allowed.

the weirdest part to me is that it’s not even a trans woman saying these things. ER is non-binary and Drew is a woman

I wish people would understand that our own lived experiences as women is what in the end defines womanhood. It’s not a role that needs external validation and hearing that someone different than you has also had a beautiful experience with it, does not mean yours is any less than. Womanhood is completely just existence and is beyond beautiful in any way shape or form. This conversation has just done so much harm for so many communities.

When I decided to remain childfree as a woman I felt like a less than woman because I wouldn’t be giving birth. I realize that my life is so much more and my womanhood is what I define it to be.

I feel like you put everything I’ve thought about the situation into the best words. I think it was worded poorly but I do agree with a lot that was said in the podcast. I also disagree that trans women have a “better” understanding of womanhood but they do have a different view and experience of it. And that’s ok. Doesn’t make anyone less or more than the other we are just different and understanding and empathizing with one another and grow together as woman is one of the most beautiful parts of womanhood.

The framing that womanhood needs to be something “beautiful“ is inherently misogynistic on its face. And then to say that cis women are somehow upholding that hierarchy because we refuse to separate the effects that oppression has on our experience of womanhood is insane.

I want to people to explain what is to be a woman. I don’t want a biological explanations because even in biology (like expressed in the video if you actually watched it) MANY do not experience the “biology” part of womanhood. So, what is it? Intersectionality exists for the same reason. As a Hispanic cis woman, who is an immigrant to this country, who’s second language is English, I have many things that I experienced that others have no, and that’s the beautiful thing about intersectionality. Simply because you don’t know those things or have experienced those things, it doesn’t make you less of a woman than I am. Nor does it make me less than you. So….. can someone explain to me what is womanhood and how trans-women are not allowed to speak on what it is to be a woman? Or why a cis woman knows more? Or how is it mysogynistic that a trans woman says that they have an understanding of being a woman? By someone saying that, you are showing your transphobia. Because you don’t see them as a woman. Period. Anyways. Loved the video. And I agree that the language used could have been better, but it doesn’t mean their opinion does not matter.

I just don’t feel like she’s in cis women’s corners whatsoever. The only apology given was to trans women. Not the cis women that were hurt as well.

As a trans woman, I’m SO tired of my life and other trans ppls identity being up for debate every week or so. Just wish we can all get along and not compare.

Very beautifully said, one thing that do really bother me is that women who have disagreed with drew or ER have now been called racist, transphobic and terf. It’s problematic when people who challenge their opinion in a genuine way are labeled like that. Ofc there are people who do use this as an opportunity to be bigoted and transphobic, but labeling everyone that disagrees as terfs or transphobes, is a dangerous path to go on.

I also think people can realize that they don’t have to like or support content creators who have opinions that are conveyed in a way that is triggering to them or they feel are reductive to their experience. Just unfollow, mute, block there really didn’t have to be this much arguing and trans women bore the brunt of it. Our generation does have a tendency to kind of talk with a “matter of fact-ness” that *can* come off as unnecessarily rude, or demeaning but that doesn’t mean you HAVE to listen to them when they say it.

I just think it's the battle of ignorance. While some things that are being said/done from Drew and ER have me raising an eyebrow, their original conversation isn't inherently bad. I agree that they have every right to believe that Trans women have the a more beautiful understanding of womanhood. I also do understand HOW some things were said can really upset some people. But the women who are just refusing to understand what was trying to be said are ignorant. As well as Drew and ER talking about Trans women's experiences without a Trans woman even in the room was ignorant or at least overstepping their place. While both refuse to see eye to eye trans people are being attacked left and right because this whole situation made terfs feel comfortable to express their transphobia..

OK, honestly, I could be totally wrong but like wasn’t the other person saying that for a second biological women have more of ability to be assaulted?? but if you ask me and like literally any other trans woman or read anything about assault on trans women and specifically them being trans to men like that a woman being a trans woman makes men like that feel like they have even more of a right or reason to their body please correct me if I’m wrong genuinely I’m just trying to learn about these things
