One time I was flying with just a backpack as my carry-on, nothing else. I do this to have more leg room. One time a flight attendant pulled out my backpack, said "this goes under your seat". I said no, that's my carry-on. She still made me put it under my seat, which I found very unfair.

If I have a carry on and there small item up there. I always ask the flight attendant to find out who it is and get it down. Some people be trying to put jacket or purse up there

As a flight attendant, this is nothing. People have the audacity to arrive, place a tiny backpack in an empty compartment and CLOSE IT. I swear most people act like they are the only ones on Earth.

Look. As a flight attendant. There’s only so many times I can yank a bag out of the bin and have people play dumb before I just give up and only do it if we actually need the space. Or if I’m actively standing there while they are getting settled.
