I was on food stamps for 3 mos. When I cracked a vertebrae, 35 years ago. It wasn’t a cute credit card. It was great big pink and green checks. Everyone knew. They should bring back the embarrassment. It helped you not want to be on them.

I had to go on it when I was suddenly the sole parent and provider for my 3 kids. It was needed, helped me get on my feet, and was TEMPORARY. Twenty plus years later, I know I used it as intended and others should to. It's not a lifestyle.

It needs to happen for all public assistance. It's a helping hand not a generational lifestyle.

Yesssssss I agree. I was homeless and living in my care. In desperate need of any kind of assistance. After five months I was able to get on my feet. Done with assistance.

But how has all this helped anyone? Just gives the government more money in their coffers to waste on wars and other countries. And now that grocery stores don’t have as much snap money, how’s that working out?

In Minnesota, hundreds of thousands of residents rely on individual means-tested programs: about 440,000 to 452,000 people receive monthly food support (SNAP), and roughly 1 in 4 residents (over 1.3 million people) receive healthcare coverage through Medicaid or MinnesotaCare
