@sd141414: A weekend AI build isn't proof of concept. It's often proof there's no moat. Three things that slow AI down- regulation, integrations, novelty - are the same three things buyers pay for. (Though not the only ones) Worth running your own idea through this test. #SystemsThinking #SoftwareArchitecture #AIEconomics #SaaSKiller

Even with AI you have to understand business logic and how you should weave everything together. It has taken me 3 months to build an accounting software https://pos.franktek.com/signup and for me AI was for code refactoring and debugging what the human eye couldn't detect. AI will never replace human programmers because even optimizing the backend requires some deep knowledge like async functions, caching, PgBouncer, and more. AI might not remember everything and sometimes it might fail to do all things right.

I’m doing the third one but the cycle in my domain is two years. I don’t think I’ll conclude a full cycle before my product is obsolete. But it’s still a good tool for my workflow and maybe that’s all I can expect to achieve.

building for months or years with no audience is like driving blindfolded 👌

This is promising, I’m dealing with a deep integration with another major aggregator which I’m hoping gives me enough moat to stave off some competition

Took me 3 brutal months to build mine , running it in sim compiling tons of performance data , my wall is migrating the build to new hardware that will support it

Hahaha yep. Everyone who is like, “build something and launch in a day”… means you picked an absolutely low-value thing to build that is going to have an accordingly low yield unless you strike lightning in a bottle and get lucky. Build things that others will drive themselves insane trying to create 👍

Yep. I’m doing it the hard way and might not be able to pull it off. If some 10 year old kid can download a file and do what I do in his bedroom, then I don’t have a good business model.

I could build products in a weekend a decade ago. im successful for that reason, been called a 10xer though i disagree with that. everything is different now.

Own a litigation firm, 550 cases yearly on behalf 97 law firm partners. Also cs background and in ai since gpt 2. What started as internal tools became a fully fledged legal Saas over last 20 months. It wasn’t easy, anyone could build the ‘bones’ (drafting templates, email responses, ocr, etc) except we brought 13 years & 3500 successful litigated case domain-specific knowledge to it so an ocr of a medial bill and record goes to 15 different places someone outside would never understand and neither does fable

Great call out here. It is the maturing realization that if you can do it yourself with AI someone else is probably doing it. I also talk about the lack of insight to reality of production environments. Great genuine content.

Is it the thought or the desire to have a unique product under the sun? Nothing new really, just build and use, if you think about it just build it

I used to think that too..until I decided to look at the market..no one is actually selling people are stuck on building..product after product and shelving it
