Kenya has mistreated Uganda very badly in the recent past by restricting imports of Ugandan dairy products, maize, poultry etc not to mention oil imports where Kenya was treating Uganda like a province of Kenya!!! So for Uganda it is strategic to reduce dependability on Kenya.

Uganda has finally, learnt, it’s not good,to have all your eggs in one basket, it’s best to have options, and a trade route via Tanzania is a good idea, while also keeping the route via Kenya open.for decades Uganda has been disadvantaged by some unfair Kenyan policies, plus the change, in having the EACOP move via Tanzania and not Kenya as initially planned, definitely means lots of investment,has to be made,by both Uganda and Tanzania, to support, the new found trade opportunity,that can be leveraged by other sectors too. But all in all, Kenya remains a key trade partner while uganda and Tanzania,have simply woken up on business they used leave Kenya handle single handedly.
