I don't do anything like this anymore because I did a phone call to a parent like that, she cussed me the fuck out and the kid was smug as hell.

How do the parents respond to this? I would be concerned of parents complaining about either receiving the phone calls or saying their child was being targeted

This is probably silly but we don’t allow phones to be on in school and we don’t have a phone at the door or in the classroom! I would love to do this but how could I? I don’t want them to use my phone

I did this is third grade. I barely ever called parents, EVER (cause I personally hate it.) so if it gets to the point I need to call home, the student is next to me and they tell their parent what happened. Very rarely had to call anyone after that. ESP when moaning was a trend. I warned them, do it again, I’ll make you call your mom and you can do the same on the phone. Had a kid do it, called his mom, he refused and began crying, so he stood next to me while I told her, she asked to speak to him and said whatever she said while he was silent. No student ever tried me after that lol (also it’s good to know your students and parents, who this would work for etc. if parents make excuses for their kids too often then odds are this wouldn’t work)

i would hope these have some level of nuance to them, i was a high achieving student and would literally give myself panic attacks from stress if i forgot my binder/ homework and having to call my strict parents would have made it even worse
