1. Woah all the planets and moons are round and all of a sudden the earth is flat 2. Gravity would be F'ed up and if the earth was flat we would instantly die 3. Seasons wouldnt be possible with a flat earth 4. We can see russia from alaska which proves its a geoid

Up and down is dependent on elevation not direction. The spherical shape of our Earth does not dictate its elevation

Between the Mississippi River's source in Minnesota and the Gulf of Mexico, the elevation drops by nearly 1500 feet. The talk of engineers using a flat plane calculations is not true.

Hmm, what’s up with time zones? 😂 What’s the flat earth delusion about that?

North and south is not uphill or downhill there’s no it’s the vertical change bro vertical change compared to the center of the globe. Yes, look into that one.

The Minnesota river flows south east than north east into the Mississippi . The red River flows north into Lake Winnipeg in Canada . How does that work ?

is there a river in the USA that doesn't flow both ways at the same time?

When the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructed the locks and dams on the Mississippi River, they used geodetic surveying and elevation datums tied to Earth's true curvature, not a flat plane calculation. While the physical site of an individual lock and dam is small enough that local alignment can treat the ground as a flat plane, the overall river system requires precise vertical control relative to sea level. How Engineers Define "Level" Perpendicular to Gravity: To an engineer, a "level" surface is not a flat line projected into infinite space; it is a surface that remains perpendicular to the pull of gravity at every distinct point. Local vs. Global Scale: For small structures like a single lock chamber (typically 110 by 600 feet), local plane surveying is sufficient because the geometric difference caused by the planet's radius over a few hundred feet is a fraction of a millimeter. System-Wide Datums: For the broader river, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers relies on official vertical control networks—such as historical milestones and modern systems like the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88)—which map elevation changes along the geoid (the shape that the surface of the oceans would take under the influence of gravity alone). What Happens If You Use a Flat Plane The Mathematical Error: If engineers tried to lay out a massive river basin or a long canal using a mathematically flat plane instead of an equipotential gravitational surface, the "flat" line would diverge from the Earth's sphere by about 8 inches per mile squared. Catastrophic Design Flaws: Over hundreds of miles of a multi-pool river system, treating the earth as flat would cause major miscalculations in water depth, lock gate heights, and flow predictions, throwing off the 9-foot navigation channel requirements.

Smaller rivers in my area in Wisconsin also changes direction. Noticed when I was a kid, and attributed it to tides…

up and down mean "away from the centre"/"towards the centre" respectively. north and south are directions around the surface of the earth. they have nothing to do with "up" or "down". if you stand south of a mountain you can go "up" by travelling north up it, but if you are standing north of it, you can go "up" by travelling south. the mississippi is a meandering river, it flows in every direction at some point along its path, and changes its path over time, but always generally runs "down" because "down" has nothing to do with compass direction.

Hell yeah the earth is flat. I just don’t know where the edge is, has anyone ever seen it and why have no ships ever fell off? The disk we are on must be so massive that no ship or jet has ever reached the edge. Where the sun goes at night and why doesn’t all the water in the oceans spill over the edge? Why do long range shooters have to take in the coreolis effect when shooting over 1000 yards? What is on the side of this disk we call earth and how thick is the disk?

Well now its no longer the Gulf of Mexico ( which its been called my whole 50 years of being on this planet) It's now called the Gulf of America. I will ALWAYS call it the Gulf of Mexico no matter what, you can even Google it even Google Maps calls it Gulf Of America..OH HELL NO.
