so fun fact, icewind dale the players can come across an old woman cooking over a cauldron. My players kept asking what was in the cauldron. I just kept saying it was stew. then one of the players rolled a nat 20 for perception, a hand was seen in the cauldron, and I as the old lady (who was a hag) said, "I told tou his name was Stu."

"The village of Mimicville is a quaint provincial town cozied up to a set of hills. The people spend their days heading sheep and chopping wood. Not too much to the town besides that I'm afraid... except, your party has arrived just in time for the annual "Treasure Chest Festival"... local carpenters are showing their skills at their craft in the village square. In the center you see an enormous statue with a placard that reads 'Mickey'. It's a giant chest-shaped fountain with a wide, smiling face and cartoonish eyes."

My current campaign has my friends playing as themselves isekai’d into Faerun, and I realized I forgot to ask if any of them had any major surgeries that could affect their health in game. I realized this after seeing a video about how your immune system is affected by an appendectomy, which I have had, so I asked them offhandedly if any of them had their appendix removed. They all IMMEDIATELY became convinced that I planned to steal their organs, specifically their appendix, at some point in the campaign. I didn’t even have to TRY to instill paranoia in my group it JUST HAPPENED

I had a DM who noted when any of us rolled a 4 for like an entire year and a half long campaign after they made a bunch of hired hands turn up dead on a beach with a number 4 carved into the sand. Literally no reason other than to make us paranoid.

I agree about the old lady one... but in fairness she was in the middle of a monster filled wood, referred to the monsters as her boys and hoped they weren't playing too rough and the soup might have been elf .... but she was so nice and friendly!
