@women_helping_women: Shame isn’t the lesson. History is. Nobody is asking you to apologize for being born white. Nobody is saying you personally owned a plantation. We’re saying: Learn what happened. Understand what it produced. And don’t demand that the people who lived through its consequences forget it simply because you weren’t alive when it happened. Because here’s the uncomfortable truth: A nation doesn’t get to choose its history. But every generation gets to choose what it does with that history. And that—not guilt—is the conversation worth having. #Guilt #BlackHistory #Slavery #WhitePeople #fyp

One of the biggest problems we created was the statement, “we don’t see color”. We SHOULD see color and recognize history and the cause and effects of our history. I respect and admire your knowledge and articulation. You deliver such a sensitive topic with such eloquence and still it will fall on deaf ears. Those of us who care understand and those of them who don’t, never will even lend a moment of consideration. You are correct on all points.

We still have people alive today that have survived the atrocities of the aftermath of Jim Crow South which was birthed from slavery

I think it's a shame you have to even explain this, I think this should be common sense. Thank you for having the patience to explain this to the people who take instant offense,

not only do you have to teach them where they are, but you also have to teach them why they're being obtuse.

Thank you for speaking out and teaching; I know it is tiresome, but I am thankful. I'm still learning and deconstructing, but things like this both educate myself, and helps me be able to have the perspective to stand against the ignorance of those around me, and helps me have the tools to educate those who are simply mistaken in their ignorance as I have been most of my life... so, thank you.

Only the guilty ones react to what you say, they know exactly what's going on. They're only gaslighting and pretending to be stupid.😊

There are slaves in prison currently! Lincoln didn't abolish slavery he just put it out of sight. The incarcerated can be used as slaves. But they are criminals they deserve it.. NO, nobody deserves it, and the dehumanizing that is done is disgusting. Also, black people make up the largest percent of prison population and that's not because they are just prone to be criminals. Policing was started by KKK, and that mindset is actually the "qualities" looked for in police. That and psychopathic or psychopathic behaviors. I am white, and truly I have and never will understand the racism, hate, judgement of anyone. I am so just, I don't even want to be classified as human. The rationalizing and justifying of just atrociousies is like the norm. I wish people could look inward and see that we are all from the same genetic line, believe it or not. But blood shouldn't be what makes us actually have empathy compassion understanding forgiveness and love for each other. Strip off the programming, look inside and ask who am I, are these beliefs mine, where did they really come from? IDK 13 years ago my reality shattered, and since then I can't unsee it. I see through the illusion, the cage were all in. Honestly, I don't get how or why people do what they do to each. Pick a reason, they made sure we have plenty to keep us separated. Skin color, eyes, women, lgbq, heck it could be too many freckles or some more stupid shit than it is already. Having empathy isn't a weakness, it's something we all should do for each other. I don't need to know a person to be able to love them and treat them the way we all need. Humans need love acceptance and community just as vital as air. I just, it's so saddening to me to see the things people choose to fight passionately for, or worry about. It's been programmed since we were young generations ago. Truly ask where this came from. I know that really deep reflection inwards, most of my beliefs, not mine. Society school and my family. Children trust, they don't think to ask. And if someone you trust or were told you could trust told you something, it's that simple to have a person believe something that isn't them. I hope we wake in time.
