But maternity leave changed something in me. A career I’d worked so hard for suddenly didn’t feel as important as it once had. Because all I could think about was how quickly this time was going. I didn’t want to miss the slow mornings, the cuddles, the firsts, the little milestones… or have to rush through this stage because I needed to get back to work. But financially, we couldn’t just ignore reality either. We were already feeling the pressure of rising costs and monthly bills. And I hated the thought of constantly saying: “Maybe another time.” I didn’t want another job. I didn’t want to work more hours. I wanted to find something that could fit around my family, rather than my family having to fit around work. So, during naps and late-night feeds, I started learning about digital marketing and digital products. I had no idea if I could actually make it work. But I gave it a chance. And it opened my eyes to a completely different way of creating an income online — one that I could work on from my phone, in the little pockets of time I actually had.
