I had a friend who had a 8 gig stick and a 16 gig stick in his PC, the 8 gig stick was defaulted as the ram that it was using and completely ignoring the 16 stick. He was gaming all the time so you could totally game on 1 stick

Upgraded to a 9850 over my 7900, this chip is KILLER. Be aware, this chip runs HOT. AIO is a must. About 10 degrees warmer over my 7900.

For gaming on modern hardware, the difference between single channel and dual channel isn't that much. I always advise dual channel, but if single stick is all you can do, it's not gonna kill gaming performance. Yeah, there will be an fps hit, but it's rather slight.
