and the game does a perfect job at bread crumbing you this shot through like 1000 hours of gameplay.. like it IS interesting but God it's too tedious and in too small bits. after all these years the traveler VA still depresses me :/ "it's for immersion" I could immerse FAR easier if I didn't have to head canon their entire dialogue while everyone else has a VA

they're def thousand years old but idk about 10 billions since genshin often refers many thing as star, e.g planet, creature or civilization. they may have seen many stars fallen/dying while only being thousands years old
