I picked my step son up from school during Covid. His teacher obviously stood next to him in the playground and asked him ‘who’s here to pick you up’ and his response was ‘my step mum’ and pointed at me. That’s when I became step mum

My daughter chose to call my now husband dad just like she decide she was calling my in laws angel and grandad I never forced it, it just happened. And looking back (daughter is 23 now) there relationship is the best

I always remember my child telling my partner you are my dad. She was 2 and a half watching tv with him turned round looked at him and said you are my daddy I was in the kitchen trying not to cry at that point. She is now 15 he legally adopted her 5 years ago

my stepson who's 9 now, about two years ago said im like a mum (a nearly cried) now he says im his protector also. he calls me by my name but has accidentally slipped up and said mum, whatever he is happy with im happy

its taken 16 yr and my stedaughter to recently turn 18 for her to think of me as a 'mum' bear in mind me and her dad have been seperated for 3 yr. now divorced haha her bio mum messaged me and called me mum2..... massive pride and respect xx

my niece told me that I was basically her mum, I asked why she thinks that and she said "well you do everything a mums supposed to do so you're basically my mum" I'm still antis lolol though but she has stopped correcting people when they think I'm her mum when we're out and about, I still did until she asked me not to a few months ago.

I saw a video on here yesterday that drove me nuts! It’s was a lady trying to convince her step child to call her mom, momma, etc. and the kid was having none of it. She didn’t want to call her that. But the women kept saying to her it’s rude to call me by my name… I’m the mom in your life and the kids said yes you stepped up so your my step mom, I already have a mom! And then the women went on to manipulate the little one who was 2yo to call her mom and was like see he’s calls me mom 🙄 but the girl wouldn’t budge! She was like yeah he’s 2 and doesn’t understand! Just crazy to me! If the kids aren’t comfortable calling you that title then you can’t force it. They’ll end up with zero relationship done the road!

Can't actually put a finger on the time I came dad and not matey, but more so when going to parents evening and teacher says you gonna let ya dad sit down. And there's no embarrassment about it. I'm now considered dad and asked all the dad questions as the sperm donor rarely shows up when needed.
