It is lonely. Friends can sometimes only be avail once a month, holidays are lonely if your parents travel to see your sibling instead... My fitness classes are the best for social interactions but I am alone the entire day otherwise, and like I mentioned it can be long stretches without seeing friends. I will never settle again and I am fine being single (7.5 years now) but I do experience a lot of loneliness. (And I literally kayak, hike, once a year travel, etc solo. Just too many solo things)

I had an ankle operation and as soon as I got home there was no way I could walk on it, my boyfriend at the time made one meal – I told him exactly what to do step-by-step and I will never forget the look of pissed off as he was carrying it through to me, because he was now doing the job that he thought I should be doing forever. That was the only meal he made, and I struggled on my ankle every day after that. You will be just fine if you are ill and alone.

I just can’t accept peacefully I won’t be ever loved in that way. All I see around me, friends and family, is love. I just don’t get why I can’t have it too. As a single, only child and childless 36 years old this is started to hit deeply and very hard. I cry everyday about that.

Same here, I choose to stop dating 4 years ago and I never looked back. My cup is full, my life is pretty darn good and I don’t feel that intense longing for a partner that I used to feel. If the right person comes along, fine. But I am ready and prepared and content with the prospect of living the rest of my life as a single woman!

I’m blissfully content w neither a child nor a partner at this point in my life….i spent so much time in my 20s, 30s, 40s chasing after a partner-time wasted.

Honestly.. I’ve learnt to live life as if nobody is coming. Getting up and going about my day, my goals, travelling and living for myself. This is coming from someone who’s been single their entire life. Just.. don’t think about it. When the feelings of loneliness comes.. feel it in waves and let it pass. Let yourself be.
