I walked away from my best buddy because of his treatment of me on the golf course. No one disrespects you! No one.

I agree with you 100% on that one. When someone knowingly disrespects you and deliberately does something they understand will hurt you, that's different from making an honest mistake. There is intention behind it.
Once someone consciously crosses certain boundaries, something fundamental can be destroyed—trust, respect, and sometimes the relationship itself. There are lines that, once crossed, simply don't allow you to see that person the same way again.
And in those circumstances, walking away completely can be justified. Not necessarily out of hatred or revenge, but because continuing to give someone access to your life after they have deliberately violated something fundamental can mean abandoning your own boundaries.
Forgiveness, if it ever comes, doesn't automatically mean reconciliation. You can forgive someone internally and still decide that they no longer have a place in your life.
