My mother went into a medication-induced psychosis 4 years ago and murdered her father (my grandpa). She was his caregiver all her life and he lived in our house so she could take care of him. In this psychosis, she completely lost her sense of self and judgement. She came out of her psychosis in jail and found out she killed her dad. She was in jail for a month and was released on house arrest bond, 40 pounds lighter than when she went in because of shock. She doesn’t remember it at all, and has suffered from severe grief and depression since and she can’t leave the house it happened in, all while awaiting trial. She is the most caring and kind person I’ve ever known, and me and my dad are the only ones who stayed by her side through this. She’s attempted multiple times. Even if Lindsay did it, which I believe she did, I still stand with her as I know what it’s like as a family member and a now licensed mental health professional. The system is broken, and what happened wasn’t done in a reasonable state of mind. This is a devastating case for these children and this was a tragic event, but she still deserves advocacy because she WAS failed. This poor woman will live with those feelings of guilt and emptiness for the rest of her life that aren’t hers to hold. Not enough people understand psychosis because it hasn’t affected them personally - mental health should be taken SERIOUSLY and when it isn’t, people die.

The saddest part, once shes proven innocent she aint got nothing to live for. Shes been stripped of the babies she raised- shes paralysed. Shes got nothing.

This made my stomach hurt so bad. As an ER nurse, I've heard that guttural, sob that women have for their children. Especially young children. And Lindsay sounded just like that. 😭
