The Cherry Bounce is the house cocktail of the Comstock Saloon in San Francisco and has been for at least a decade. It was introduced by the Comstock’s owner Jonny Raglin who took inspiration from another cocktail of the same name first developed by a Hollywood restaurant which included cherry Brandy and Champagne which a regular told him about. But if we look into it the cherry Bounce is a Brandy based drink which has roots which go all the way back to 17th Century England where it was prepared as a Cordial and was very very popular. It then made its way across the pond during the Colonial Era in America where it also enjoyed so much popularity that it became a favorite of George Washington and Martha Washington had her own recipe. Or rather took credit for a recipe most probably created by one of the enslaved people who worked for the Washingtons. I am at this very moment in Salem Massachusetts and staying in the hotel Washington stayed in right before he took office, so I thought this one was fitting for today Cherry Bounce 1 Dash Angostura Bitters 3/4oz (22ml) Lemon Juice 3/4oz (22ml) Cherry Syrup 1/2oz (15ml) Simple Syrup 1oz (30ml) Sparkling Wine 1 1/2oz (45ml) Four Roses Bourbon Add all ingredients to a shaking tin and shake 8-10 seconds, strain into a coupe or cocktail glass, top with sparkling wine and garnish with three cherries #georgewsshington #colonialamerica #cherrybounce #drink #theeducatedbarfly #cocktails #banger #crushable #delicious #drinks #cocktail #simple
