@justinnaultofficial: Apparently there IS a line you can cross in Big Pharma. You just have to cross it far enough that writing another billion-dollar check won’t make the problem disappear. That’s what makes this case different. We’re not talking about a controversial study or people arguing over medical opinions. Federal prosecutors used the same racketeering law designed to prosecute organized crime. Think about what that means. The people responsible for selling medicine were convicted over a scheme involving payments to doctors and prescriptions for an extraordinarily powerful opioid. And somehow asking questions about the pharmaceutical industry is still treated like some radical position. I don’t think questioning powerful institutions makes you anti-science. I think blindly trusting ANY institution with enormous financial incentives and a documented history of misconduct is insane. Science should survive questions. Medicine should survive scrutiny.
