my mom mainly tattoos me, but i think a shop would love me. i shower the morning of, bring loads of candy bc i eat like ive never eaten before and i drink applejuice beforehand and always drink a liter of water beforehand and i bring a liter with me. i also dont shave myself beforehand and let the artist do the work

listen apprenticeships in the u.s tattoo industry is literally a form of hazing and a humiliation ritual all wrapped into 1 if you're a female artist. probably a lot different where you're at 😭

.... How can you NOT shower before a tattoo appointment?! you gotta make sure you're skin is clean, you're looking and smelling fresh (antiperspirant, not perfume). I can't imagine going to see a professional artist while wearing unclean clothes and an unwashed ass. Talk about disrespectful...

got a piece that goes from my neck, down my arm, down my chest to my hip and while getting it done I accidentally combines youch and owie and accidentally yelled yowie the whole time and my artist was fighting back laughter thinking I was saying "Yaoi" 😂😂

I get so freaked out when I get tattooed about body odor even though I am very much not a smelly person. I literally shower right before I leave. Make sure I am fully shaved in the area they’re going to be working in and where the absolute freshest smelling clothes possible. That is one of my biggest fears.

I can't even imagine going for something as intimate as a tattoo (meaning that person has to be within sniffing distance of my skin, not necessarily an intimate area being tattooed) without showering. I brush my teeth before going to the dentist! If I had the money for a cleaner, I'd probably clean the house before they arrived 🤣 if anyone is coming that close to me, I wanna smell like soap and perfume

i've also been trying to get an apprenticeship for years now and it is so hard. literally every studio and argist i've been to told me to just get used to the feeling of handling a machine and buy a cheap one first cause it will increase your chances of being accepted.
