Also! Related, there’s a small collection of 1893 Worlds Fair homes of progress in Beverly Shores, IN. I drove past them last week on a roadtrip and they were so cool to see. And they’re occupied.

I wish I could go back in time and give the man who created cars parents melatonin so that they would sleep late miss their alarms and not make it to work on time this loosing the capabilities to afford for their child to go on do well in school and instead drop out and start work early. that's how much I hate cars

I spent the summer of 1984 at the New Orleans World's Fair. it was a financial bust for the city but I was 9 and thought it was amazing! so many countries from around the world were represented. they each had retail stores and displays.

World fairs were just capitalistic fantasies. Then World War happens and those capitalists realizes where the real money is. The modern equivalent is just the tech and security conventions etc.
