@tripzy.way: Hidden beneath the hills of Montignac in France’s Dordogne region, Lascaux preserves one of humanity’s greatest prehistoric art treasures. Created roughly 19,000–17,000 years ago, its chambers contain hundreds of paintings and thousands of engravings depicting horses, aurochs, deer and other animals. Four teenagers discovered the cave on 12 September 1940, but the original was closed permanently on 20 April 1963 to protect the fragile artwork. Today, Lascaux IV offers a complete replica of the cave, opened in 2016. If you could stand inside Lascaux 20,000 years ago, what do you think these artists were trying to tell us? #Lascaux #PrehistoricArt #AncientHistory #France #Dordogne
