Terrible claim. One manga/anime wasn’t as accepted world wide at the time (most op sales are Japanese) two, longer time in release obviously means more time to pick up fans. TBH for its entire release up until recently, Japan was carrying op. The rest of the world didn’t care for it. It was shows LIKE Naruto, dbz, and yugioh/pokemon that anime is even as popular as it is now

The only and I mean only show that could possibly do it is hunter x hunter because of its fantastic world building and while more kid friendly still has both political and real world commentary possibly on par with op and I say that with op in my nb 1 by far but it will never happen because he takes so fucking long to publish new fucking manga panels much less full chapters
