I think it depends on circumstances. If one of you can drive and the other can’t it becomes much more difficult. Thi contributed partly to a friendship breakdown I had. For her a 40 min drive. For me either 6 buses or 4 trains and about 2.5 hours of travel with my 2 kids under the age of 4 with me :/ I wouldn’t of even minded giving her petrol money if it was that big of a issue but this along with some other points broke the friendship.
