We have the square containers for the sauce from omie and ours never did this!! So maybe try the square ones next time :)

Put the containers with the sauce in a ziplock bag, so if they explode they just explode in the ziplock bag.

The best sauce containers i ever bought were from Dollar Tree. They're little clear rectangles with colored lids and you get 10 or 12 in the pack.
