I’ve been reading a lot about “barista fire” which feels more attainable than coast fire for me as a middle class working parent and it also feels more appealing to me than continuing to grind for another 30 years

I'm 44 and last November I quit my job as an Attorney. I didn't have enough savings to comfortably retire in US at 44, so in July I moved to Italy where things are a lot cheaper. I'm still adjusting to these changes but overall I love my new "retired" life here in Italy

I'm committed to saving as much as possible just simply so I do not have to do this forever.

15 year mortgage locked in at 33. planning to semi-retire at 50. I want work to be for fun after 50 as opposed to necessity

I’m 42 and plan to retire and move abroad at 47. I refuse to work until I die and will just go live somewhere less expensive.

In 40s and hoping to shift down to part time work by 55. A lot will depend on how things will change between then and now and the paths our children are pursuing.

If the paycheck doesn’t even provide an apartment without roommates, much less the modestly sized home of your dreams, it’s not worth it.

For the past 10 years I have been living frugally and investing highly so that I can retire at 45 and travel and be a travel consultant full time from wherever I am in the world!

I just retired, in my 40s, very lucky to do so but I was just so over corporate culture. I am thinking I'll eventually do something else as an independent worker, not sure what yet

If I never had kids I’d be retiring sooo early. As it stands now 55 is the realistic goal.

I’m a teacher in my 30s who will have a pretty good state pension if I stick it out. The earliest I can collect it is 57, and I’m already feeling like that is the absolute LATEST I would be willing to work.

Do you think AI will make traditional retirement planning obsolete, or just change how we approach it?

I work at a senior center & already seeing this which is why we’ve added more evening & weekend programs. More are becoming “semi-retired” & still working during the day part-time.

I’m in my 20s but I decided to take a mini-retirement because I was so burnt out at my corporate job. And it’s been one of the best decisions for my mental health and just figuring out what I want to do next

@Christiandihno: 28, already realized traditional retirement probs isn’t in the cards for me. Retirement will probably look like buying a business I wouldn’t mind operating and make it a family business. Idk an ice cream shop sounds cool.
