@drchiphd: This is exactly what ethnocentrism looks like. You don’t go into other people’s countries and completely disrespect their culture just because you don’t understand it (or you’re too broke to afford the delicious food that regular people eat.) As an American woman who has lived abroad multiple times, I would tell you to just stay home. You don’t go into other people’s homes and complain about the furniture or the scent. Just go back to Kansas and enjoy your meatloaf and aluminum antiperspirant deodorant. Leave the people of Italy alone. They didn’t invite you anyways!
