I don't think they added a new sensor, the sensor being utilized is in the Watch 4, 3 and Fitbit Air also. They're all getting these new features.

exciting, but I still see it problematic from an ethics point of view. a consumer should have access to their data, specially health(even more medical) data. I totally agree about your point regarding error margins and the way Google analyzes and visualise it, is good. but it would be better if they inform and explain the error margins and the process they use. and then give you still access to the real/rawish data. in the end it's sensor hardware with fixed technical specs regarding errors and presision. the dumbing down and "locking" away is a bigger danger if nobody can check the "source data"

Behavioral change is the long term consumer benefit of this device category. So this as a feature is pretty slick!

This is what interesting because from my understanding is the Galaxy Watch has been able to do blood pressure for years but couldn’t clear the FDA for use in the US. Wonder how Google got it through.

Exciting. They'll probably want to pair with a medical device to train properly.

it is more than enough as a heads-up to go see a doctor. nobody is claiming that it is an actual sensor or anything of the such

As long as it's promoted as an "early warning system" and not an actual diagnostic, then I don't see any harm. Basically just flagging to the user they should check because something seems off.
