@coach_bridgetb: Divorce changed everything. And somewhere along the way, someone told you that you and your ex would eventually settle into a friendly co-parenting rhythm for the sake of the kids. That has not happened. It is not going to happen. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner you can stop grieving a version of post-divorce life that was never available to you and start building the one that is. You cannot make them follow the schedule. You cannot make them communicate kindly. You cannot make them put the kids first. So stop trying to. Build what you can control instead. Here is what that actually looks like. - Communicate with boundaries. Every message to a high-conflict co-parent should be brief, informative, friendly, firm. BIFF. - Prioritize stability in your home. You are the anchor. Keep the schedules, the bedtimes, the rules, the routines. - Protect your peace. High-conflict co-parenting drains you on purpose. That is not a side effect. It is the strategy. Guard your energy like it is evidence, because in the version of your life where you win this thing, it is. - Support their emotions. Let your kids feel whatever they feel about what is happening. Do not interrogate them. Do not use them as messengers. Do not make them choose. Your job is to be the safe landing place, not the co-investigator. - Invest in your healing. Therapy. Coaching. Community. The stronger you are, the harder you are to destabilize. And you are going to be destabilized. So, build the reserves now. Doing all five of these on your own is the hardest way to learn them. Doing them alongside other protective parents who are doing the same work is a completely different experience. The Custody Warrior Collective is that room. Weekly coaching, real strategies, and a community that gets it without you having to explain.
