parents ain't parenting.. they're not teaching the kids at home. just throwing electronics in their faces. they're not working with them. a lot of kids don't know how to use the bathroom or wipe themselves in kindergarten and first grade.. let alone read, write, know ABC's or how to do ANYTHING that's not being fed to them.

I think a part of the problem is that kids don’t get held back anymore. They get pushed through to the next grade even if the failed their classes.

Parents are forgetting that in 2020 when they had to homeschool they’re kids how bad it was. And yes teachers were saying before 2020 that kids couldn’t read, comprehend or do basic math. No one was listening

My nephew is the only one in his class who has been on honor roll for the past 4 years. That's because we're teaching him the way we grew up and it's paying off. All started because we had a black out when he was in 5th, and told him that's why you can't depend on technology for anything 💯

I think part of the problem is people hear kids can't read and they picture the reading level of a toddler. It is more of a reading comprehension issue.

Too much time is spent on the behavior problems. The only way out is to bring back suspensions. A small group of disruptive students can cause havoc and loss of instructional time. 💯

Is it because we left phonics behind and have focused on memorization of sight words instead? I also notice spelling and vocabulary have also taken a back seat. My kids are in 7th and 6th grade and I don’t remember them ever brining home vocabulary or spelling homework.
