Did the fire department not send the landlord a list of violations? Call or go to fire department and ask them if they'll come out and do an inspection and send the violations to the landlord. They will fine businesses if they don't fix violations within a certain time period where I'm from. Hope you can get help soon or get out of this place! 💞

We have enough evidence and paperwork for a lawsuit to be successful but we make too much money for public legal services and not enough money to afford a lawyer. The only other company that was free we could use said no because they don't have th

Send a letter of everything that has to be fixed so that it’s certified through the mail. You have to give them 30 days to fix everything if they do not you can fix it and take it out of the rent or you hold your rent. Need to look into your rights this is not OK.

Idk what state you live, but since you have made formal complaints to a fix hazardous situation, you might be able to withhold rent in a separate acct you create, I believe you have to send a formal letter through usps stating you will be withholding rent for them not complying with the work request on electrical hazards. Your state may allow an email stating you are withholding rent as well. 🤷🏼♀️I hope this is helpful.

put your rent money into an escrow account and hand them the receipt to your deposit as rent until they fix everything and I mean everything. let them take you to court, you'll most likely win.

renters in Colorado have now rights than landlords. between the fire dept and housing authority in your county, someone has jurisdiction to enforce the safety related upgrades. or move out. it costs money to pay for the consequences of these unmaintained facilities. if this place is managed by a property management company, then start talking to other tenants in their other properties. if these are common problems with their properties, make it a public issue. take to 9 news, they take on these kind of cases to get action.

My house is literally rotting away. It was built in 1875. I’m paying $2,000 a month to live in a house that’s going to eventually collapse.
