My best teacher hack is I unhooked the stupid phone from the wall with a cord and I have a cordless phone plugged in and sitting on a shelf in that spot. One of the jobs in my classroom is for a student to bring it to me when the phone rings. Highly recommend.

My daughter told me a teacher his phone rang during a test and it was tik tok by Kesha. He was also my teacher in high school. Next time at parent teacher interviews I stirred him up

I feel like the phone answer is a magic trick. My students are dead silent if I get or need to make a call. They loved the library drama I had a few years ago.

I also do this. And then I have a pretend conversation with my mom when in reality I actually just turned my ringer off.The kids love it when my mom gives me trouble on the phone for not eating my vegetables in my lunch.

I answer my phone Eastern State (you know where the guy who shot Reagan was sent). The first time I did it, our Dean of Students about fell out laughing. Or if the School Secretary calls, I always ask if my mom was here to pick me up.
