this sounds bad but both kids and your job (excluding very young children obvi) may be more low maintenance than you think (not saying it isn't super difficult) my mom did it and I just spent a lot of time on my own as a kid honestly

as a single mom teacher, it is sooooo hard 😭😭😭 i feel like my kid never gets the best version of me because I'm so over it by the time the school day is over. so much mom guilt.

What’s even harder is being a childless teacher for 12 years and then finally having a baby. Most teachers I know started their career and had babies all around the same time so they never really knew any different. My world was absolutely rocked. I had to learn to be a teacher with less than half the time and energy I was used to giving to my classroom. I do my best but the quality is not the same if I’m absolutely honest because the job requires a lot of unpaid time and labor I’m not willing to give up anymore because that’s my daughter’s time now.

My best friends mom was a teacher at our school. How you feel is a legit concern more teachers/parents need to be aware of. She looked at me crying one day and said “my mom’s so busy being a mom to everyone else she never had the time to be a mom to me”…. Changed my whole perspective (I was thinking of becoming a teacher)
