The crappiest part is the biggest polluters and packaging waste companies will be able to overcome this and continue on as they were. I wouldn’t be shocked if there’s a magical exemption that pops up for billion dollar companies sooner than later.

Let’s not portray the PPWR as something bad. It’s supposed to protect the env. from pollution and you had 2 years to prepare for it. It’s simply mandatory to apply from last week but it was published months ago

It's been done to reduce drop shipping, which is a good thing, however the big businesses will find a way around it while small, independent business owners will most probably suffer from it. It's a shame

This is truly only hurting micro businesses and small business owners. Large manufacturers and producers will just hire a consultant and a logistics partner to manage these issues. This law is insane regarding the implementation. Such a waste of time and administrative resources.

I live in Paris and it’s horrible, we also can’t ship anything back to the US 😵💫😵💫 two of my friends moved back to the US last month and needed to ship some things, and they got to the post office and they said it’s banned to ship anything, I was in shock!! I ended up having to bring 2 extra suitcases with their things on my recent trip back to be able to ship it to them from the US

The EC has asked member states not to enforce PPWR on small and micro businesses (and honestly, it’s pretty impractical for them to try to do so in the first place)

They released an FAQ and it looks a lot more reasonable now! I’ve formerly managed government and corporate compliance and am a new retailer in France. I am combing through it and going to call my former legal team to get their read, BUT - for some hope, my baseline assessment is that as long as you are not using custom designed secondary or tertiary packaging, most non-cosmetic or food businesses should be okay. Primary packaging for cosmetic products or all consumer packaged goods (CPGs) is where there will be a real doozy. This is not legal advice, just for educational information. My recommendation for those reading are as follows, 1) find global law firms hosting free webinars to get more information and 2) call your insurance company and get their assessment via their free legal services. Specifically general liability insurance should have hotlines or more resources available for individual assessment, your sales rep should be able to connect you to the right services 3) large accounting firms or the big 4, should also have free webinars available with more information.
