This pisses me off. Dude, if you’re a time traveler and you go back to the past in a Time Machine, with magic, or whatever super powers you have, you will have gone back to the past to a time you’ve already been! Meaning everything you do in the past has already been done!! You already killed that butterfly!!! What are we freaking out about? It doesn’t matter if you hopped into your Time Machine at 2:30pm on a Saturday in June and traveled to the past and killed a butterfly from prehistoric times because it already happened in a moment of history. That butterfly was killed by you before you were even born (assuming you live a human lifespan). Dinosaurs roamed the Earth, a time traveler killed a butterfly, human civilization evolved over thousands of years, same time traveler was born, built their Time Machine, went back to prehistoric times (which technically has already happened), come home, The End. This always bugs the crap out of me with any time travel depiction
