2 things can be true at once here, firing that man was completely unjustifiable... but he doesn't need to be in that situation to begin with, I work at a very busy restaurant and the bare minimum we are ever supposed to have is 4 people, usually it's 8

Overworking people is maliciously done by employer . They intentionally cut labor and offset the load on ppl until they quit and replace them . Once you get exhausted from work is just a matter of time before you burnout.

Firing an overwhelmed worker is not a company worth working for. No one should be alone in any business at night. It’s unsafe for a start. He’s better off, I would not work for them they clearly don’t care about its staff.
