I hate that MCU pushes that they are 616. Many MCU characters have different origins to the original 616. Prime example is Tony Stark. In 616, he is adopted, while in the MCU, he’s a biological son of Howard and Maria. Another example is Ultron, in 616 he’s made by Hank Pym. They should’ve sticked to be the Earth-199999

I like to think that the MCU developed their own universe numbering and its shared among other universes that are live action based. So when Miguel O’Hara talks about the MCU he still refers to it as 199999 because he is outside of that cluster of universes that make up the MCU. That being said I hate marvel studio execs making the MCU 616

this completely ignores that kid loki visited the mcu and it was labeled as earth-199999 canonically, then there was into the spider verse which said the same thing and the handbook that labeled it as such years back when it was being fleshed out.

What makes no sense to me is that like… everyone’s earth should be earth-1… to them. The first earth you discover is your own. And so unless someone else who already knows 615 universes is coming to yours to teach you about the multiverse… where are you getting 616 from? Why would every universe have a sort code? Why does some scientist in Thor with no shield connections derive the same name as Mysterio did?
