@narcissisticabuse__: Hi, it's Juliana! When a narcissist tells you you're hard to love... I believe the motive is often to get you to accept the way they treat you. They want the fear of losing the “only person willing to love you” to keep you silent. And I'm not just talking about romantic relationships. This could be a friend, parent, sibling, you name it. The idea is the same: If they can convince you that you're hard to love... You'll accept the mistreatment... Because the way they treat you feels like the price of being loved. But you don't pay for love by putting up with mistreatment. You “pay” for love by being yourself and having someone choose to love you as you are. I want you to really let that sink in. You don't have to change who you are to be loved. You just have to find people who love the person you already are. Can you improve as a person? Yes. Can you work on things that might be hurting your relationships? Yes. But all of that is just a normal part of growing as a person. It isn't a requirement for being worthy of love.
