I had hip surgery 7 weeks ago I have had pain it’s like a Charlie horse type pain he gave me muscle relaxers I mean I have to see

They do an xray right after surgery in the OR to check the implant a follow up xray at 6 weeks. I had a total hip replacement left side lateral incision with 2 screws and core decompression right side. I was told to use a walker for 6 weeks. I used a cane for 3 months post op because I didn't want to encourage the limp. use your cane. it is a mobility aid.

Week 7 and I’m having increase pain in my knees and back from a length differential. It’s so painful to walk even a mile. And I have a really bad limp. It’s disturbing my sleep. I honestly feel like I wasn’t told that this would be so difficult and mentally draining. I wasn’t expecting for my leg to be longer either .

Sorry for your pain. Four to five weeks are really early on in recovery. Pain resolution and reconditioning your muscles can take several months. I would trust your PT eval…this sounds like a muscle issue which has multiple impacts on pain and recovery. X ray may be indicated to assess the prosthetic, but is more than likely muscular in origin. I am at 7 months and have a probable hip flexor tendonopathy….some discomfort lifting my leg, and with external rotation. I also have a 6 mm leg differential which plays a role in this process too. No issues walking, stairs. Changed up PT exercises and slowly getting better, it still requires attention not to overwork.

Yes it is a long way to recovery for some people . I’m going back in September to replace my right hip it is about to collapse. But I am recovering from left hip replacement at the same time . Just don’t don’t do too much or too less
