@redditstories_doggo: My best friend lost her baby right after they were born, but it's been 2 years and she hasn't gotten over it, and now I'm walking on eggshells around her because I'm pregnant and don't want to tick her off. She needs professional help, this level of grief after 2 years isn’t healthy

Op is not a terrible friend. Caregiver burnout is real. And then that person blocked her? She is a whole problem and needs major help.

I get she’s trying to warn OP and remind her to be attentive, but telling a pregnant woman “yk things can go wrong at any time right?” Is an awful thing to say, especially in the early stages in a wanted pregnancy.

I had someone who was pregnant with me -i lost my pregnancy - have their baby around when my due date would have been. I didn't put any of my grief on her I told her congratulations and that I would not bother her with my grief over my miscarriage. she appreciated it. not her life not her problem. OP friend is selfish.

Once you get to dreading their texts and calls, it’s over. Wrap it up. Your nervous system already associates that person with stress and anxiety.

No one gets over losing a child. She needs a new therapist because the one she has isn’t helping her properly. Also, OP isn’t a bad friend. Everyone has a limit as to what they can take. And someone else unloading their emotions onto others can take a huge emotional toll on the recipient. And this woman has been doing this for years and OP has sat through it all. OP isn’t a terrible friend, but she’s been awful to herself this whole time.

Not a terrible friend. She needs real help, a support group. You deserve to celebrate your pregnancy.

You don’t get over losing anyone. You move forward with the grief. The friend needs a therapist that specializes in perinatal trauma.

Getting trauma dumped on constantly is mentally and emotionally exhausting. If you’re not their therapist it’s not your place to be their depression sounding board for every conversation. It’s not healthy. Setting boundaries is the healthiest thing here

Losing a baby hurts and you allowed to sit in that hurt as long as you want, but life goes on and you can’t hold other people back and constantly remind them of your loss.

it's not op s fault that the friendship ended, the friend expects that all her circle to stop their life for her grief.

As someone who lost her baby, it’s extremely painful. But you should NEVER behave this way. I miss my son with all my heart, but I refuse to lash out like this. Especially towards people who love you and want to help.

I think op handled this with a lot of grace and understanding. The friend is allowed to grieve, but she needs to get a grip. Blocking someone for being pregnant is insanity. Mental health is so important.

Youre not a terrible friend. She needs therapy for her grief. Just let her alone and enjoy your pregnancy and life

As someone who lost so many friends when I was dealing with grief, I think op sounds like she was a wonderfully supportive friend. There does come a time in the healing process where continuing to do nothing but focus on your grief is holding you back from moving on. This whole story takes place two years after the friends loss. The fact op is still providing what sounds like an intense level of support is not healthy for anyone involved. The fact she couldnt share her own pregnancy with someone who is also supposed to be a supportive friend to her, without being blocked, just shows how off the dynamic was. This is one of those situations where there are no bad guys.. just one mom who definitely needs higher levels of support from the professionals being paid to help her(and truly, she may never be "ok" again, which would also be understandable), and one who needed to establish some gentle but firm boundaries long before it got to this point.

ok so first I can't imagine the pain of loosing a child however, the friend needs to talk to a therapist because she is not entitled to have all her close ones stop their life just to avoid triggering her. If she feels that is reason enough to end the friendship, then let her, that is her choice good or bad, only time will tell. This all is just sad
