I just opened a tattoo shop in wisconsin in may! we had to get ahold of the inspector for anything to actually get done. he was up their ass about processing our stuff so that we could schedule the inspection. it took them about a month to finally process it but as soon as it was processed the inspection was scheduled the next day. does your county have an inspector or do you have to go through the state?

Those tasks can be difficult, they are even more difficult when doing them independently. Lake Mills especially. Initial review is about 21 days but expect longer, they will contact you with preliminary approval or denial before ever even stepping foot in the establishment based on zoning and then you can schedule an inspection. Calling them a bunch won't help you at all.. they tend to be egotistical. I opened a commercial kitchen in the middle of a commercial cabinet shop last year in Dane county. Talk about dealing with the health department 😅 they were easy to work with. Understandably the situation warranted their due diligence.

I used to own a studio in Watertown, glad we had our own department in the city…. They were always pretty decent, never had to deal with Jefferson co.
