Repost hudpost A Bayonne Board of Education trustee used a public meeting to accuse board leadership of favoritism and to demand answers about a long-planned school referendum, though board members ultimately agreed they want the project to move forward. At the Tuesday, August 25, 2026, meeting, Trustee Hector Gonzalez Jr. read a prepared statement saying he was "extremely concerned about the direction of the leadership of this board." He alleged favoritism in appointments, said family members had been promoted, and raised what he called possible "political retaliation" tied to the recent mayoral election. Gonzalez's central concern was the referendum, which he said would fund a new school at the St. Andrew's site, the former St. Andrew's School and Convent the district bought in 2022, along with districtwide improvements. He said the board had spent hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars advancing the plan, then heard the effort had been "squashed," and pressed leadership on who stopped it. He also questioned why a different site, referred to as Assumption, had recently entered the conversation. Board President Mary Jane Desmond rejected the idea that she had blocked the referendum. "I did not stop anything with the referendum. Don't know where you got that," she said. "I have not politicized anything." She said her focus had been on making sure residents understood the cost before any vote, and pushed back on rumors of a 20% to 30% tax increase, which she said was never the case. Desmond said the full board supports the project. "The entire board does want to move forward with this," she said. Superintendent John J. Niesz and the board attorney said the district must first hire an architect and bond counsel, and that a referendum remains at least six months to a year away. Desmond said the board could also lobby state officials for help with the remaining approvals. Board members said they would continue the discussion at the next committee meeting and take the steps needed to bring the referendum to a public vote. #JerseyCity #nj #jersey #bayonne #newjersey

These dogs have been posted once, and didn’t receive much interest. This is the wife of a couple that’s separated that reached out for help. The state originally asked for our help with finding placement for some of the husbands dogs. The wife has reached out on her own, wanting to do what’s best for these dogs, knowing that by herself she doesn’t have the capacity to care for them all. So I drove out to the property along with a dog trainer to meet these dogs. I wanted to get a better feel for their personalities, and get better pictures to see if it would help in finding them placement. There were five dogs needing placement. Junior, the Airedale was adopted after the initial post. I was struggling to figure out how to present the video, because it was more than would fit into a short snippet. I’ve always tried to provide the rescue experience for people who follow us, to the best of my ability. So I thought I would narrate these videos to provide a little more insight. This first video shows Junior (who’s been adopted), and Remington. Remi is a 5 years old male German Shepherd. Since Junior left, he is quite lonely and misses his playmate, and as a result is trying to escape his yard. In order for us to be able to help these dogs, they need to find foster homes. Fosters need to live within an hour of Blue Springs, Mo, as that is where all of our resources to be able to help these dogs are. We adopt out all across the country, if you’re interested in adopting! If you are interested in opening up your heart and home to Remington, please text 816-935-2111. #pawportunities #germanshepherd
