I heard the actor was only supposed to take one look at Christ but when he did he experienced the real Christ and looked again. He was an atheist, I believe, during filming and is saved now.

I saw the interview. He said he saw Jesus Himself, NOT Jim looking at him. That’s why he took the 2nd look, which was not scripted, and that’s what shook Him so bad. Jesus always shows up when you say His name. Pietro was not expecting that.
