he's been snubbed at oscars so he lowkey gave up on ambitious movies, why would he get in serious project when he just can act in fun movies and get more money for it. I would do the same if i wouldn't even got a nomination for a role like his in Nightcrawler

I dont think jake gyllenhaal has the quirky personality of robert pattinson, pattinson is able to do very leftfield roles that are borderline absurd or comical, whereas gyllenhaal chose mostly very serious gritty roles only.

Robert Pattinson best performances are not anywhere near Jake’s best. Pattinson is a great actor and on track to become one of the greatest of the generation, but the reason why such take would even be considered is because Pattinson has much better pr than Jake ever did. Nonetheless two incredible actors

i think it might be politcal? many generational actors were thrown out of the mainstream in the past 10 years and its usually the ones that fought for liberal ideologies... now a lot of movies have conservative actors as leads (with an excuse of indie production) ... so yeah i think its just hollywood adapting to the current politcal climate which is a way bigger issue than is jake gyllenhaal gonna do a good movie again
