@tismbrainrot: I made this video because this is the kind of information I would’ve liked when I was researching certain medication’s. I tried to be as factual as possible #neurodivergent #highmaskingautism #audhd #autismacceptance #autismawareness
You don’t enjoy unmasking? For me the boosted focus improved confidence and allowed me to just got give a shit. I am what I am and stand behind my actions 100%.

How did you get your autism assessment? I got diagnosed with ADHD in May and I've been having similar experiences with meds (Vyvanse to Adderall rn) and I suspect autism as well. I keep getting quoted $1000+ for the autism assessments though 😭💔

Vyvanse has been the only medication I’ve been able to tolerate long term for ADHD as an AuDHDer. All other stimulants caused aggressive and irritated behavior and limited my ability to control my impulse control within that spectrum. Still don’t love vyvanse all the time because it doesn’t work during my cycle at all but it is what it is.

Yes! Diagnosed adhd at age 32 after years of thinking it was very bad depression mixed with lots of anxiety. All depression meds didn’t work for me. Stimulants work great, I actually have the opposite problem and need a higher dose though, I think my body metabolizes too quick or something. However the adhd meds made me feel a lot less depressed. Actually was able to get things done and not want to sleep all day and couch rot. But now I have zero ability to mask and way more sensory sensitivity. I’m also autistic, I self diagnosed when my daughter got diagnosed and I just knew it was me too.

Are you hypersensitive to externals like certain foods, medications, supplements, cannabis, chemicals etc. to the point where it’s debilitating?

I’ve had similar reactions to those medications, esp straterra. I thought I was crazy for feeling so sick on it. Glad it wasn’t just me. I have all kinds of weird reactions to medications. Also, I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD and after two years, I’m wondering if I am AuDHD because there seems to be something else that’s deeper, so I’ve booked an appt to see a psychologist. What medications, supplements, or treatments have helped you the most?

Yes!! Strattera gave me scary high blood pressure and the feeling like my head was constant buzzing. Stimulants gave me horrible anxiety. And Wellbutrin was similar to what you described with stimulants- my special interests became my whole world and I couldn't focus on anything else or even want to go out.

how did you get a doctor that understands what you're saying and doesn't just tell you it's anxiety or PTSD (which I do definitely have)? I always feel like I'm lying or they don't believe me or that they're going to dismiss my concerns just bc I think I know I'm AuDHD

I had sort of the opposite to experience with trying medications across the board, but also ADHD medications. However, I got genetic testing before I got testing for Autism and I apparently have very few medications that even react with my genetic profile. Adderall does help my ADHD symptoms (I’m hyperactive type) but I never thought about whether it affected me from an autism side. Now some stuff makes sense, I am also very high masking, and I have been feeling like I’m more stressed and more depressed and more exhausted over the past year and a half. I wonder if my, as you put it, masking threshold has lowered and I have just been trying to brute force masking which is just exhausting me even more than before. I have been working on unmasking, but it is a very slow process so far. Thank you for your video though, because I might have just made some sense as to what’s going on with me lately.

I had an allergic reaction to Straterra. On 10mg Adderall I was in fight or flight constantly and it made me want to curl into a ball and rock back and forth. I’m on Concerta now and it gives me terrible anxiety around the time the extended release comes out unless I’m active, so sitting at my desk doesn’t help.
