My DIL has the same rules. I will admit that I was hurt deeply in the beginning but I also realized it’s her child, not mine. I respect that. Now that they have 3 kids and another one on the way, I don’t get too bothered by the new baby rules anymore. But I will tell this mother who is posting, that over the years my DiL has made so many boundaries and restrictions for “her family”, she has alienated her outside family so much that now we don’t bother offering a lot of the help we normally would have. Idk if that makes sense to you, but remember that the taller you make your walls, the less people will be willing to climb.

As a grandma, I would have the same rules when it came to babysitting.. babysitting is for an hour- 4 hours is raising the kid lol

Couldn’t be me. My MIL flew in the day we arrived home from the hospital. She walked in, came and kissed me, went and took a shower and then sat and held baby for 2hrs while I went to nap. She stayed with us for a month. Truly a blessing 💙

I had a friend that did this. Guess what happened? Nobody bothered with her or her kids because of the ridiculous walls put up then a few years later she complained family members favored the other kids in the family and she was jealous. You wanted the distance, well now u got it!
