The woman in the video is Jiang Xiaorou, a 24-year-old Chinese paranormal content creator who built a following of over 1.5 million users on Douyin (the Chinese version of TikTok) by exploring abandoned locations and investigating the supernatural.The Statue Video: In August 2025, Jiang posted a highly controversial "anti-superstition" video where she smashed a clay statue of Guanyin (the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy) to intentionally test whether she would suffer a supernatural curse, mockingly telling her audience, "Let's see how long I can live".The Car Accident: Nearly a year later, on July 15, 2026, the rideshare vehicle she was traveling in between Guangxi and Guangzhou was involved in a violent traffic accident. She suffered severe traumatic brain injuries and organ damage. After fighting for her life in a deep coma for nearly a month, she tragically succumbed to her injuries on August 10, 2026.The Curse Theories: Because of her provocative anti-superstition content and an eerie coincidence in her final video where she filmed herself dialing a phone number rumored to belong to a road accident victim social media users began reposting her old videos, falsely claiming her death was "karma" or the result of a divine curse.
